Leisure Books centralises information

Leisure Books is South Africa's largest Book Club. Established in 1980, the Club has more than 180 000 members who annually order in excess of one million books. Being in an information-rich environment themselves, Leisurebooks expressed the need for a central location to store documentation to be shared between team members, in specific departments with a structured permission-based approach, as well as provide for an easy way to notify all staff members of new events and news.

The ability to track and review changes to documents was an important consideration for the Leisurebooks team; as traditional file sharing on their server was proving to not be a reliable method for more than one individual to work on a document. In addition, there was a need for several standard templates to be made available for users when documents are created.

bSOLVe used Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to create a robust Intranet environment for Leisurebooks in the form of a SharePoint To-Go project - building the departmental structure, assigning correct permissions, and helping staff members get up to speed with the key functionality required to work better together. Leisurebooks now has in place a structure which can easily be expanded to include more content involving more individuals and teams, as well as a platform with which to enable information from other business systems to be displayed in future.
