Pétanque's business is structured in such a way that consultants often work in geographically dispersed locations. One of the challenges of such a model is that a centralised "home-base" for information can be difficult to establish and manage. Being an information-rich business which relies heavily on documentation, Pétanque needed a central location from which to coordinate efforts, which could be accessed from anywhere, at any time.
bSOLVe used a hosted Windows SharePoint Services solution in the form of a SharePoint To-Go project to build LeCafé, Pétanque's always-available collaboration and communication portal. LeCafé serves as a workspace to coordinate multiple client projects and internal documentation. The team stores all the template documents it uses throughout the consulting process in a permission-managed structure, after which an area is created for each client, giving all of the consultants just-a-few-clicks access to the latest work completed by their colleagues.
Pétanque also utilises the wiki functionality in SharePoint innovatively, each team member using a wiki page to quickly update their current status, goals and achievements for the week. This enables everyone to always be up to speed with what's happening, even if team members don't see each other face-to-face for a period of time.
